If you are unsure if the beetle damage is active or historic, our quick tip will help you find out.
Mark around the existing emergence holes with a suitable pen (the brighter the better!), and monitor activity. Logging the date and number of new holes will help us evaluate the severity of the infestation… if there is one!
Alternatively, glue tissue paper over the affected area, the adult beetle will chew through the paper, leaving easily identifiable evidence of activity. You can then draw around the holes, colour-coding to represent the month and year of activity.
Monitoring is the best way to establish the extent of the problem.
